Price Policy Guard

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about what Price Policy Guard watches, how it labels discounts, how billing works, and how it handles your data. Still stuck? Visit Support.

Does Price Policy Guard change my orders?

No. Price Policy Guard is read-only. It reads order and product information through Shopify’s read access and never edits orders, prices, discounts, products or customers. It does not cancel, refund or block anything. It keeps its own settings and results in its own database.

Does it monitor historical orders?

Price Policy Guard monitors new orders placed after you install it. Past orders are not imported, so a new store shows “Waiting for your first order” until one arrives. If Shopify later reports an update to an older order, that order may be checked at that point.

What counts as a Leak detected?

A line is marked Leak detected when the customer paid less than the order-time price and your policy does not explain the difference. For example, a discount code or automatic discount that is not on your approved list, a manual discount above the maximum percentage you set, or a price difference that no discount accounts for.

The amount shown is potential leakage: an estimate of the unexplained difference under your policy. It is not a confirmed financial loss, and some flagged discounts may be intentional.

What does Review mean?

Review means Price Policy Guard could not confidently classify the line, so it does not guess. Examples: Shopify did not return the tax detail needed for the comparison, the line was partly refunded or adjusted, the price is lower but no discount data explains it, or the discount came from a source type Price Policy Guard does not recognize. Review items are not confirmed as outside your policy. Open “Why flagged” to see the reason.

Can I approve discount codes?

Yes. In Settings you choose the discount codes you approve and set a maximum percentage for manual discounts. If you allow the optional read-only discount permission, Settings lists the discount codes from your Shopify store so you can tick the ones you approve; otherwise, or for any code not in that list, you can type codes in yourself. Nothing is approved automatically: only the codes you select or enter are treated as expected, and codes that are not on the list are flagged. When you save a new policy, results already recorded are re-checked under it.

Can I monitor automatic discounts?

Yes. Choose the automatic discounts you approve in Settings (from the list, if you allowed the optional discount permission, or by typing their titles). Automatic discounts with other titles are flagged.

Can I receive email alerts?

Yes, email alerts are optional. Turn them on in Settings and enter the address that should receive them. Alerts are sent for leaks newly detected after you turn them on; existing results are not emailed retroactively, and each affected line is alerted once. A leak that appears only because you changed your policy does not send an alert. An alert includes the order number, product title, estimated potential leakage and the reason. It does not include customer details.

How much does Price Policy Guard cost?

Price Policy Guard has one plan, Standard: $19 per month, or $190 per year with annual billing. All current features are included. You choose monthly or yearly billing on Shopify’s plan page.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The Standard plan includes a 14-day free trial. Price Policy Guard checks new orders as they are placed, so the trial gives you time for real orders to arrive and be monitored.

How am I billed?

Billing is handled by Shopify. You choose and approve your plan on a page hosted by Shopify, and the subscription charge appears through Shopify’s billing system, on your regular Shopify bill. Price Policy Guard does not collect or store payment card details.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Because billing is handled by Shopify, cancellation is handled through Shopify rather than inside Price Policy Guard. To stop future charges, uninstall Price Policy Guard from your Shopify admin (Settings, then Apps). Shopify notes that uninstalling stops future billing cycles, but you might still be billed for the current billing cycle.

What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?

Canceling a subscription is not the same as uninstalling the app. If a subscription ends but Price Policy Guard stays installed, your policy and alert settings stay in place until you uninstall, and saved results are still deleted automatically after the retention periods described below. Uninstalling deletes everything from the live database, as described below.

What happens if I uninstall Price Policy Guard?

Monitoring stops, and the data Price Policy Guard holds for your store is deleted from its live database. The next answer and the Privacy Policy describe the deletion. Uninstalling also stops future billing cycles; see “Can I cancel?” above for what Shopify says about the current cycle.

How long does Price Policy Guard keep my data?

Your discount policy and alert settings are kept while the app is installed. Saved price-check results are deleted automatically 90 days after the order date, so the Dashboard shows the last 90 days of orders. Processing-queue records are deleted 30 days after they finish, and alert delivery records 180 days after they were sent or suppressed (90 days if a delivery failed). Records still waiting or being processed are not deleted. These periods apply to the live database; our database provider also keeps backups on its own schedule, and deleted records can remain in them until they expire. Everything in the live database is deleted when you uninstall. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What happens to my shop data after uninstall?

When you uninstall, Shopify notifies Price Policy Guard and the data it holds for your store (your policy, saved results, alert settings and authentication session) is deleted from its live database. Shopify also sends a store-erasure request after uninstall, and the same deletion runs again. See the Privacy Policy for details.
